Now let’s take a closer look at each of the types.
1. Matson
Matson Inc. is an American shipping company founded in 1882. Matson, Inc.’s subsidiary, Matson Navigation Company, provides shipping services across the Pacific Ocean to Hawaii, Alaska, Guam, Micronesia, the South Pacific, China and Japan.
Matson currently offers the fastest shipping routes from China to the United States. By “by delivery” means the time of delivery of the goods from the moment when:
- container sailed from China
- arrived at a US port
- passed customs procedures
- handed over to local carriers for delivery within the United States.
Let’s start with the fact that today Matson offers 3 types of sea shipping from China to the USA:
- China – Long Beach Express (CLX).
- China – Long Beach Express Plus (CLX +).
These two types of delivery leave from Xiamen, Ningbo and Shanghai ports in China and arrive at the US port in California, Long Beach. In the picture below, you can see the delivery time at each stage.
CY CUT-OFF (Container Yard Cutoff) – this is the time by which the container must already be registered at the port.
DEPARTS is the day the ship departs from the port in China.
OCEAN TRANSIT – the time of the ship at sea, from the moment of departure to the moment of arrival at the port, is calculated in calendar days.
ARRIVES – the day of the ship’s arrival at the port in the United States.
CARGO AVAILABILITY – the time when the goods are ready for transfer to local carriers throughout the United States.
For example, if our product comes out by CLX from Shanghai:
- time of consolidation of goods in a warehouse in China up to 10 days (usually 3-7 days);
- the day before which the goods must be in the port and register is Tuesday until 6pm;
- the day of departure of the ship we will have is Thursday;
- transit time of the vessel at sea is 10 calendar days;
- the day of the ship’s arrival is on Saturday;
- the time when the container is ready for pickup from the port is Sunday;
- delivery time for goods within the United States is up to 7 days (usually 1-5 days).
In total, we get that from the moment when the container arrived at the warehouse for consolidation until the moment the goods are delivered to the recipient in the USA – 17 – 27 calendar days!
And now let’s discuss the third shipping option.
- China – California Express (CCX)
This is Matson’s third type of delivery and sails from Xiamen, Ningbo and Shanghai in China and arrives at US ports in California, Long Beach and Oakland. In the picture below, you can see the delivery time at each stage.
2. EXX
EXX is a weekly premium ocean shipping service from China to Los Angeles that extends to the interior of the United States via EXX RailFlash. This line is operated by APL.
APL, formerly American President Lines Ltd., is a Singapore-based container and shipping company that is a subsidiary of the French shipping company CMA CGM.
The premium Eagle Express X (EXX) service and its enhanced EXX RailFlash and X-Location services are now offered on behalf of CMA CGM.
Let’s take a closer look at how EXX delivery works. Delivery on this line is carried out from two ports in China – Shanghai, Ningbo and arrives at the US port in California, Long Beach.
The company also has its own dedicated container rail platform at the port under management, which also helps it quickly transfer goods for shipment across the United States by rail via the EXX RailFlash line.

3. ZIM
Zim Integrated Shipping Services Ltd., commonly known as ZIM, is an Israeli international freight company based in Israel and one of the world’s twenty largest carriers.
The company is headquartered in Haifa; it also has a North American headquarters in Norfolk, Virginia. Founded in 1945, ZIM traded as the ZIM Israel Navigation Company from 1948 to 2004.

Based on personal experience, the average delivery time from China to the recipient in the United States varies between 35-45 calendar days!

4. Slow Sea

Delivery times start from 25 working days from the moment the ship leaves China.
