Sell to Amazon Europe. Q&A p. 2

How to sell to Amazon Europe? This question has become our favorite lately. Today we are going to take a look at all the questions related to creating a global Amazon listing!

But before we start, we advise you to read the first part of our article, where we have sorted out some of the most important questions that will bother you before starting a new business.

Let’s go!

How to sell to Amazon Europe?

Your Amazon account and listings

Can I use my Amazon US account to start selling in the Amazon Europe market?

No, you will need to register a European account. Click here to get started.

Do I need different accounts to sell on different European marketplaces?

No, you only need one European account. Your European single account will allow you to create and manage product offerings across all European Amazon online stores (e.g. Amazon.de, Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.fr, Amazon.it, Amazon.es, Amazon.nl). You control what you sell and where and manage your European business from a single seller account.

When you register to sell on any of the European Amazon marketplaces, your seller account is automatically activated, allowing you to sell on all other European Amazon marketplaces. All your orders will be processed in one place.

However, Amazon seller rules apply to all countries in which you sell. These are the ground rules to ensure that Amazon shoppers have the best shopping experience.

You also need to know the local EU tax, regulation and requirements; you are responsible for complying with all applicable requirements.

When you sell on any of Amazon’s European marketplaces, there is a country-specific Amazon commission charged for each item sold.

Can I transfer my Amazon.com listings to Amazon European marketplaces?

Yes. Build International Listings (BIL) tool helps you sell worldwide by adding offers and synchronizing prices across multiple marketplaces. BIL allows you to quickly add numerous offers to additional marketplaces. Then, in accordance with the rules you set, the BIL manages the quotations on the marketplaces using automatic updates.

To share your Amazon.com listings to European marketplaces using BIL, you need to link your accounts. Linking your accounts is the foundation for managing your cross-region business, allowing you to see your company information across all marketplaces in one place.

Once you have linked your accounts, use BIL to set the US as your “source” trading floor, set the European marketplaces you want to sell on as your “target” marketplaces.

BIL does not create new product lists (ASINs). It adds suggestions if the product list already exists on the new marketplace. If it is not already there, the offer will not be added. BIL also does not manage inventory. To make an offer available for purchase, make your inventory available to that marketplace. Find out more about BIL.

Do I need to translate my listings into another language?

Listings must be in the language of the local marketplace. For example, ads on Amazon.de must be in German, ads on Amazon.fr must be in French, etc. Using the local language makes it easier for clients to understand your listings.

Your listings may already exist in the European market. When you use BIL to add offers in Europe, the tool will tell you if a product listing exists on certain European marketplaces. In this case, a translation of the listing is not required. BIL will automatically sync this listing.

Amazon requires listings and customer support to be provided in the local language of the marketplace.

For the five European Amazon marketplaces, these are the following languages:

Amazon.co.uk: English
Amazon.de: German
Amazon.fr: French
Amazon.it: Italian
Amazon.es: Spanish

To sell throughout Europe, you do not need to be fluent in any European language. You also don’t need to invest in advance to hire a native speaker as your translator.

Many sellers meet European language requirements through a combination of Amazon translation support and external translation providers. For many, the process starts with Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA)

FBA deals with shipping and logistics

One of the main benefits of using Fulfillment by Amazon in Europe is that Amazon will handle shipping and returns in the local languages of the marketplaces.

Do I need to translate packaging and product instructions?

For any product that is swallowed or applied to the skin, instructions and ingredients must be in the local language on the product. This is not required for other products, but it is recommended so that customers can get the best possible experience from your product.

How do I know if my US products meet European standards?

Compliance standards in Europe change regularly. If you sell items in the consumables, cosmetics, or consumer electronics categories, you should be extra vigilant in reviewing local laws and ensuring they comply. Amazon has a number of external solution providers that can help you meet product compliance requirements.

Are my product reviews being carried over from Amazon.com to European marketplaces?

Yes, but only at the initial stage. If there are no ASIN customer reviews on a marketplace outside of the US, recent reviews from the US marketplace (Amazon.com) will be shown. These imported reviews remain visible until ASIN receives local marketplace reviews, after which they will no longer be displayed. When you use the Build International Listings (BIL) tool to migrate product listings from the US to Europe, customer reviews are carried over to the product detail page, but not to the search results page or bestseller rankings.

Is a new ASIN required for European commodity lists?

No, usually not. Product ASIN code is “global” and differs only if the product is significantly different from the original ASIN. For example, if you have three versions of a product that differ in the type of outlet – Europe, UK, or US – each version will have its own ASIN. However, if the products are not significantly different (for example, color variations), then each version will not have its own ASIN.

I am allowed to sell products that require a permit for my category in the United States. Do I need to get permission to sell these products in Europe again? What documents do I need?

Yes, you will most likely need to get a permit to enter Europe again because different countries have different rules. You will be asked to provide the relevant documents during the application process.
